Zooz Joins Jasco: A New Chapter for a Z-Wave Favorite

On October 13, 2026, Zooz and The Smartest House announced that they’ve joined Jasco, the company behind several well-known smart home and electrical product brands. It’s a significant development in the Z-Wave world, particularly for those of us who have come to appreciate Zooz’s innovative products and commitment to the enthusiast community.

You can read the official announcement from Zooz and The Smartest House.

What Does This Mean for Zooz Customers?

According to the announcement, Zooz will continue operating under its existing brand, with its current product lineup, support resources, and The Smartest House storefront remaining in place.

Jasco brings additional resources in product development, operations, distribution, marketing, and sales. The stated goal is to build on what Zooz has already accomplished while creating opportunities for future growth.

For customers, it’s essentially business as usual for now.

Zooz Responds to Community Concerns

Following the announcement, a number of customers expressed concerns about what the acquisition might mean for Zooz’s products, quality, and future direction.

Zooz responded the same day with an additional clarification, specifically addressing those concerns.

Perhaps most importantly, they stated:

“This is not a plan to replace Zooz products with Jasco hardware or to change the product philosophy that has shaped the brand.”

They further confirmed that Zooz products will continue to be developed and manufactured using the same established processes and factories, with the existing team remaining in place.

Zooz also emphasized its continued commitment to advanced functionality, flexibility, firmware support, platform integration, and listening to customer feedback.

That’s a fairly comprehensive response to the concerns being raised, and I find it encouraging that Zooz addressed them so quickly and directly. It’s exactly the kind of openness and responsiveness we’ve come to know and appreciate from Zooz over the years.

Why This Matters to Me

I’ve been a big Zooz fan for years. I use their products extensively in my own home automation systems, regularly feature them in Save The Panel content, and have had the opportunity to participate in beta testing and provide technical feedback.

One of the things that has always impressed me about Zooz is how well they understand the needs of the home automation enthusiast and integration community.

They develop products that solve interesting problems, offer extensive configuration options, and provide the kind of detailed technical documentation that makes their devices particularly useful for advanced applications.

Just as importantly, they’re accessible.

When customers have questions, identify unusual behavior, or suggest improvements, Zooz has demonstrated a willingness to listen and engage directly. I’ve experienced that firsthand, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve become such a supporter of the brand.

A Little Cautious Optimism

I’ll admit that the announcement caught me by surprise.

Whenever a smaller, innovative company becomes part of a much larger organization, I naturally get a little nervous. We’ve all seen acquisitions where the original company’s identity, creativity, or customer focus gradually gets lost.

That’s not a criticism of Jasco. It’s simply a reality of acquisitions, and something I think is reasonable to consider.

At the same time, there’s genuine potential here.

Zooz has built an impressive reputation for innovation, particularly within the Z-Wave community. Combining that creativity and technical expertise with Jasco’s resources could open the door to new products, faster development, and broader availability.

I’ve also been reassured that the people responsible for Zooz’s technical development will continue in their roles, which I find particularly encouraging.

And Zooz’s prompt response to the community’s concerns gives me additional reason to be optimistic. They’ve clearly articulated their intention to preserve the things that have made the brand successful.

My hope is that Jasco recognizes what has made Zooz special and provides the resources to build on those strengths while preserving the qualities that earned Zooz such a loyal following.

Looking Ahead

For now, I’m keeping an open mind, continuing to support the products I believe in, and genuinely excited about what the combination of Zooz’s innovation and Jasco’s resources might bring to the smart home community.

There’s a lot of potential here, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Of course, as with any acquisition, the real measure of success will be what happens over time. The products, the innovation, the support, and the relationship with the community will ultimately tell the story.

What do you think?

Are you optimistic about this acquisition? Concerned about what it might mean for Zooz’s future? Or somewhere in between?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, particularly from those who have been using Zooz products for years.
