Upgrade IQ Panel
The upgrades to an IQ panel can be automatic in certain circumstances, however most of the time they need to be manually triggered for installation. Below is the most straightforward approach to applying the latest software.
Find the latest patch tag
In order to upgrade to the latest version, you need to know what it is. Each version has its own “Patch Tag” which identifies the software itself. Unfortunately Johnson Controls (company who owns IQ) doesn’t publicly list the software updates/released notes. But thanks to DIY ADC dealers like Surety, they can help us out!
To find the latest version and patch tag for the IQ 4, use the link below:
If you search their support forum, you can find similar lists for the IQ Pro, IQ 2 and other products.
Upgrading the Panel
Once you know the patch tag, follow this procedure:
For this example, we’ll use the latest patch tag at the time of writing which is iqpanel4.6.1
Before you proceed
Please read the post on the Surety site to be sure you have met the prerequisites!!
Some updates must be done gradually and in a certain order. If this is not observed, it may cause damage to your system, or simply fail.
Update Step by step
On your panel, swipe down to access the menu
Go to Settings, Advanced Settings, and enter an installer or dealer code
Go to “Upgrade Software”, and then “Patch Tag”
Enter the patch tag for the version you are upgrading so, example: iqpanel4.6.1
Click “OK”
The upgrade will then commence. Do not use the system or touch the screen until it fully completes which can take 5-10 minutes. The system will reboot once the update is complete.
